Danny Barnes Trio

Danny Barnes, Joe K. Walsh, Grant Gordy – they were wonderful. Lots of tunes from his early Sugar Hill days. Very accessible. Time flew by quickly.

Danny, Joe K. Walsh, Grant Gordy – they were wonderful. Lots of tunes from his early Sugar Hill days. Danny and Corey Walker played a great double banjo piece.
Sarah Jarosz
State Theatre
State College, PA
2017/04/19
She was fine. She is becoming a bit more edgy as she grows up. She plays the mandolins as well as she sings - she's really good!
David Wax Museaum
State Theatre
State College, PA
2017/02/17
Almost good I get what they are trying to do with a tex-mex kind of americana sound. They just don't pull it off just yet. The woman who featured on a bunch of instruments was very pregnant. She said it was their last show before maternity leave.
Railroad Earth
State Theatre
State College, PA
2017/02/17
Another great show by these guys.Sublime. We've seen this band 18 times over 17 years. The never disappoint!
Jeff Austin Band
State Theatre
State College, PA
2016/10/21
I enjoyed the set. Sort of like the way Yonder did a show. At then, it became tedious during a very extended version of Rag Doll. I'd still pay to see him again. I wish Ryan Cavanaugh (banjo) would have been in the band rather than the dobro play
Travelin' McCourys
State Theatre
State College, PA
2016/10/21
Really loved the Travelins. They are a sharp tight band with great vocals shared by Ronnie, Jason Carter, and Alan Bartran. Wonderful entertainment. They actually rock out!!

IIIrd Tyme Out featuring Russel Moore
Mural Stage
Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion
Bristol VA/TN
2016/09/16
These guys were fine. 25 years as a band, nobody was in the band the entire 25 years. The band was best when they played without talking between tunes. As the talking grew, the pace ground to a slow, slow crawl.
Hayes Carll
State St. Stage
Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion
Bristol VA/TN
2016/09/16
Loved him. This wasn't the best set I have ever seen from him. The new material was good. His guitar player, Jeff Cook was great.
Cracker
Piedmont Stage
Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion
Bristol VA/TN

Never heard of these guys before this show. They have been around 25 years and were quite good. A rock band with taste, talent, and no head thrashing.
Blair Crimmins & the Hookers
State St. Stage
Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion

2016/09/16
Kinda nice ragtime band with fine horns. They are not quite ready for the prime time, but they could be someday.
Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn
Mural Stage
Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion
Bristol VA/TN
2016/09/16
I just don't appreciate Abbey especially her stage presence. Bela said, “ Yes dear every 5 minutes after which she would glow. They still perform instrumentals fabulously together, but her vocals don't make it for me. The crowd love, love, loved
Steep Canyon Rangers
Mural Stage

Danny Barnes, Joe K Walsh, Grant Gordy
Elk Creek Brewery & Tavern
Millhiem, PA
2016/08/01
Nice show and the crowd was not a obnotious and loud as it usually is. Danny was fine, not his best. The other boys impressed me. I've seen them many times before in other bands.

Hot Buttered Rum String Band

Yonder Mountain String Band

Again I was underwhelmed by the 'new' Yonder. Very Little Energy anymore. Allie Kral was the shining star that was reaching the crowd
Angeleena Pressley
Bijou
Knoxville, TN
2015/11/06
A very nice show that was curious in that Angeleena looked young and hot, but was 39 and hot! Her songs were topical, edgy and good. I'd see her again. She was/is in the Pistol Annie's with Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe.
Paul Thorn
Bijou
Knoxville, TN
2015/11/06
Great show! Thorn completely captivated the crowd. His daddy was a preacher & his uncle was a pimp. He rocked the house and his band was great. Second time I've seen Paul and will pay to see him again.
Tony Joe White
Bijou
WDVX Bluegrass Extravaganza

I tried again to enjoy this band. I can hear some of the nice songwriting, which seems to get blurred by all of the loud rhythms and crazy violin. I only lasted 40 minutes. Whew.

David Mayfield Parade
Wilkes Community College Campus
Merlefest
Wilkesboro, NC
2015/04/26
I know David is immensely talented, but I can't take his humor and approach to the show. I loved him singing Hartford's 'Tall Buildings.' but the Human women schtick got old right away. My wife loved him?
Paul Thorn
Wilkes Community College Campus
Merlefest
Wilkesboro, NC
2015/04/26
Great. Ruffles feathers, says what he thinks, and has a great band. He spoke to the donors about wealth and climbed down off of the 8' high stage to shake, howdy, and sing his final tune. I'd pay to see him.
Brandon Whyde & the Devil's Keep
Wilkes Community College Campus
Merlefest
Wilkesboro, NC
2015/04/26
This guy was no Tom Waits. He and his band were certainly not ready for the big time. No presence, songs were boring.
Dwight Yoakam
Wilkes Community College Campus
Merlefest
Wilkesboro, NC
2015/04/26
Dwight was very good. He had his ripped jeans and 'nudie' denim jacket. He was what I expected. Maybe a bit louder. than it had to be. Some Bakersfield stuff, but no truckin. Dwight is a pro and it shows. He is also very short!
Waybacks
Wilkes Community College Campus
Merlefest
Wilkesboro, NC
2015/04/25
James Nash has changed the band, adding keyboards and losing the great fiddler, Warren Haynes. I think the new sound suits the more rock oriented material James favors. Finally new stuff and it was very good.

Johnny Staats & the Delivery Boys
Pour House
IBMA Ramble

These guys were fabulous. Johnny is one of the best mando players today. My wife thinks he is the fasted (and cleanest) mandolin player in Americana Music. The band was really great too! Can't wait to see them again.

Trey Anistacio Band
Allegany County Fairgrounds
Delfest
Cumberland, MD
2013/05/24
Interesting long show. Trey is a fine guitarist and singer. His music was good mostly. But the overall jamming arrangements were somewhat repetitive. Playing Charlie Daniel's 'Devil Went Down to Georgia' was too much. I wouldn't play to see this
